Nowadays many schools are sourcing their own contractors to maintain their schools grounds. Acme offer a personal service for all year round which is tailored to each schools individual requirements and budget for both. Our operators are all DBS checked (previously CRB checked) to be able to work within school grounds (certificates are available on request).
Grass mowing
We have a range of rotary and deck mowers for playing fields along with pedestrian mowers for those smaller and more formal areas. Depending on the client’s requirements, we usually cut on a fortnightly basis during the growing season (April – October).
Hedge trimming/flailing
We ensure hedges are kept tidy and cut back from footpaths and areas where there’s high pedestrian traffic ie entrances. Hedges are trimmed by operators using hedge trimmers, for boundary hedges we may use the tractor mounted flail – this is usually undertaken during October/November to avoid the nesting season.
Trees
Tree work included within the contract is light pruning, lifting lower branches to above head height and removing broken or fallen branches. All other or major tree work requirements would be priced separately from the contract.
Strimming
Some more harder to reach areas such as banks and verges will only need to be strimmed around 3 times a year with brush cutters. Wildlife/conservation areas can be strimmed later in the season when flowering has finished.
Herbicide treatment
To keep hard standing areas such as pathways and car parks weed free we spray a herbicide treatment when required.
Border management
Keeping shrubs tidy and managing weeds is carried out throughout the season and if the school chooses the borders can be topped with woodchip to help keep weeds under control.
Leaf collection
During the Autumn/Winter programme leaf collection is another part of the service.
Field Line Marking
We will incorporate your specific line marking requirements within the contract to ensure sports days and sports matches are perfect for all our budding sporting stars.
Light Landscaping Projects
We can undertake light landscaping projects that don’t cost the earth.
